BC Health Regulators

The College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC) is a proud member of BC Health Regulators (BCHR). As a provincial umbrella organization that provides leadership, BCHR represents 21 regulatory colleges that govern 25 regulated health professions in BC under the Health Professions Act, and one college that governs social workers under the Social Workers Act.

BCHR leads partnership and collaboration among health regulatory colleges to ensure British Columbians receive safe, effective, and ethical care. BCHR is incorporated under the Societies Act.

In 2018, BCHR contributed extensively to Harry Cayton’s inquiry into the College of Dental Surgeons of BC and reform of the Health Professions Act. In 2019, BC’s Ministry of Health released a much-anticipated report (PDF) authored by Mr. Cayton. The report noted that BCHR is “a model of collaboration and debate.” Read CSHBC’S statement on the Cayton Report.

BCHR has launched campaigns to raise awareness about why it’s important to choose a regulated health provider, including the “Care Safe Trust” and “Our Purpose, Your Safety” campaigns.
