Rabi Mihlar, Non-Registrant

Location:

Surrey

Date of Action:

September 4, 2019

On September 9, 2019, the College entered into a consent agreement (the “Agreement”) with Ms. Rabi Mihlar. The Agreement provides that Ms. Mihlar will not practice as a hearing instrument practitioner (HIP) or use any title reserved for registrants of the College while she is not a registrant.

Background

The College granted Ms. Mihlar “Hearing Instrument Practitioner – Intern” applicant status in 2013 and revoked that status in 2015. The College has not previously granted Ms. Mihlar registration as a Registered Hearing Instrument Practitioner (RHIP) or in any other registration category. In February 2019, the College learned that Ms. Mihlar may have practiced hearing instrument dispensing. The College gathered this information during the course of a larger investigation into potential unauthorized practice and hearing aid clinics in the Surrey, BC area.

Resolution

Under the Agreement, Ms. Mihlar agrees to not provide any service that only a registrant of the College may provide while she is not a College registrant. Ms. Mihlar also agrees to not use any title reserved for College registrants while she is not a registrant. This resolution is consistent with the College’s public protection mandate in preventing unauthorized practice. The Agreement will prevent Ms. Mihlar from practicing or holding herself out as a College registrant until such time as she is granted registration.
