First installment plan payment for registration fees due June 30, 2020

On March 18, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the CSHBC Registration Committee passed a one-time emergency resolution that enabled CSHBC registrants to pay registration renewal fees for 2020/2021 under an installment plan.

For registrants participating in the installment plan, the first installment plan payment towards registration fees for the 2020/2021 registration year is due on or before midnight on June 30, 2020. The amount due on June 30, 2020 is $375 for all Active and Conditional Active registrants and $137.50 for Inactive registrants – 50% of the annual registration renewal fee.

Registrants on the installment plan should read this page carefully, as it contains important information regarding how to make installment plan payments, and the consequences of failing to pay an installment payment by the due date. For registrants who have already made an installment payment, no action is required.

How do I make my installment payment?

To make your installlment payment, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Go to the CSHBC Registrant Portal login page

Follow this link to the Registrant Portal login page, or use the Registrant Portal link in the top menu of the CSHBC website.

2. Log in to the Registrant Portal

3. Answer the security question

4. In the Registrant Dashboard, view information on outstanding fees

After logging in to the Registrant Portal, the Registrant Dashboard will appear. In the “Outstanding Fees” section of the dashboard, click “View” to see information on invoices and receipts.

An alternate way to see invoices and receipts is to click “Invoices and Receipts” in the left menu.

5. Select the invoice with a due date of “2020-06-30” for the first installment

The “Invoices and Receipts” page displays all invoices for any outstanding fees on your account. To pay for the first installment, find the invoice with a due date of “2020-06-30”. If only paying for the first installment at this time, it is important that you select the invoice with this due date. Then click “Review & Pay” next to that invoice.

6. Review the invoice and click “Pay by Credit Card”

On the invoice that appears, again ensure the due date says “2020-06-30”. After reviewing the invoice, pay for the first installment by clicking the “Pay by Credit Card” button.

7. Pay by credit card

Fill in your credit card information. Please note that CSHBC only accepts Visa, Mastercard, Visa Debit, and Mastercard debit, and not American Express. Then click the “Process Payment” button.

8. Option to pay both installments at once

You can pay for both installments at once by clicking the “Pay All by Credit Card” button on the Invoices and Receipts page.

Then fill in your credit card information (CSHBC only accepts Visa, Mastercard, Visa Debit, and Mastercard debit, and not American Express) and click the “Process Payment” button. Paying for both installments at once is optional.

When is the payment deadline?

The payment deadline is midnight on June 30, 2020. However, please remember that CSHBC staff will not be available to assist you with any problems you may encounter or questions you have past 5:00 PM on the day of the deadline. We therefore recommend completing your payment well in advance.

If you like, you may pay both remaining installments at once.

I am not sure if I have paid – how can I check this?

If you have already made an installment payment towards your renewal fee for the 2020/2021 registration year, to see your receipt, after you login to the Registrant Portal click “Invoices and Receipts” in the left menu.

What happens if I miss the payment deadline?

The installment plan payment deadlines are not extendable. When you renewed your registration, you completed a declaration attesting that you would pay one half of your renewal fees by June 30, 2020, and affirming your understanding that your registration would be cancelled without further notice if you do not meet this deadline.

Registrants who fail to pay 50% of their renewal fee by midnight on June 30, 2020 will have their registration cancelled for failure to meet the registration renewal requirements. This cancellation will be effective as of July 1, 2020. There is no grace period or “reinstatement” period after the installment deadline.

If your registration is cancelled, you must cease practice immediately, and must also cease using your reserved title. Before you can resume practice, you will need to re-apply for registration, and your application will require Registration Committee approval. The Registration Committee’s review of your application will be based on current registration requirements. Please note, this could present significant issues for those who registered under previous iterations of the college Bylaws with less stringent registration requirements. For example, former registrants may not have passed the examination currently required for registration.

Please also note, all former registrants reapplying for registration must apply for Active status.  Under the CSHBC Bylaws, it is not possible to re-apply as an Inactive registrant. To return to Inactive registration after having your registration cancelled, you would need to re-apply for Active status, have this application approved, and then submit a request to change to Inactive status.

Remember, practising and using a reserved title without a current license to practice, even for one day or one hour, is unlawful and is taken very seriously by the College. See information about unlawful practice.

When is the second installment payment due?

The second and final installment plan payment deadline is August 31, 2020. As a courtesy, CSHBC will send an email reminder about this payment deadline; however, ultimately it is your responsibility to make sure you make your payment towards your license to practice by the deadline.

Still have questions?

If you have further questions about payment of your registration fees under the installment plan, please contact CSHBC in advance of the June 30, 2020 deadline.
