Notice to the Professions /
Clarity about the Provincial Health Officer’s Orders issued on November 7, 2020

Dr. Bonnie Henry issued orders on November 7, 2020 specific to Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions.  Specifically, Dr. Henry ordered that there are to be:

“No social gatherings of any size with anyone other than your immediate household.  For example:

  • Do not invite friends or extended family to your household
  • Do not gather outdoors
  • Do not gather at restaurants”

The delivery of care in the homes of patients and clients, or in private sector practices, DOES NOT constitute a “social gathering”.  Registrants who provide care to patients and clients in these settings are expected to continue as they did prior to the issuance of this new order.

A reminder again, to ensure that you continue to follow WorkSafeBC and the College’s standards and guidance for the appropriate use of PPE when delivering care.

The College is aware that there is a Ministry of Health Policy Communique addressed to health authority CEOs on “Mask Use in Health Care Facilities During the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The College is asking for clarification regarding the application of this policy to our registrants. In the meantime, out of an abundance of caution, the College would strongly encourage that registrants ensure the use of masks for all patients, staff, and visitors in all practice settings.
