Inter-professional collaborative practice in case of students who are deaf/Deaf or hard of hearing – Request for additional feedback

CSHBC convened a working group, comprised of Registered Speech-Language Pathologists (RSLPs) and teachers of the deaf/Deaf or hard of hearing (TDHH), to examine aspects of two CSHBC standard of practices: Inter-Professional Collaborative Practice (PDF) and Unique & Shared Scope of Practice (PDF).

The working group’s purpose was to develop an inter-professional document based on Appendix A of the Unique & Shared Scope of Practice standard. Before concluding its work in early 2020, the working group developed the draft document, titled Inter-Professional Collaborative Practice (PDF).

The document outlines the following:

  • the core team members providing care for students who are deaf/Deaf or hard of hearing (RSLPs) and Registered Audiologists (RAUDs) are part of the team;
  • team member expertise;
  • unique contributions that team members bring to care of this population;
  • aspects of care that may be shared between team members.

The document will be useful to education and health care professionals providing clinical services to deaf/Deaf or hard of hearing students in an educational setting. Professionals may use this resource to guide their decisions regarding collaborative assessment, diagnosis, and intervention.

The document has recently been updated with feedback from RAUDs and is ready for final review.  To provide feedback, please contact us at qualityassurance@cshbc.ca on or before June 5, 2021.

CSHBC thanks all registrants for providing feedback.
