All registrants are advised to thoroughly review information on this page.

Registration Renewal period opening early February 2022, with a deadline of March 31, 2022

Registration renewal for the registration year from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023 will open early February 2022. CSHBC will provide notice of the beginning of the registration renewal period on opening day. Registrants who wish to maintain their professional status as RAUDs, RHIPs, or RSLPs in BC must renew their registration, and should do so through the CSHBC Registrant Portal.

Registration Renewal Important Deadlines

The deadline for renewing your registration for 2022/2023 is March 31, 2022. You are encouraged to renew your registration as soon as possible after the beginning of the registration renewal period in mid-February.

Late Registration Renewal

Registrants who have not renewed their registration by March 31, 2022, will have a 30-day grace period to renew their registration by April 30, 2022, before their registration is cancelled. Applicants who renew their registration from April 1, 2022, to April 30, 2022, are considered late renewal applicants.

Late renewal applicants must pay a late renewal fee of $250 in addition to regular renewal fees.

If you have applied for late renewal, you are not legally entitled to practice in BC and cannot practice until your application has been approved. (See “Failure to Renew and Unlawful Practice” below.) Applications for late renewal received after April 30 will not be accepted.

Reinstatement of Registration

Registrants who intend to practice but who have not renewed their registration on or before April 30, 2022, must apply for reinstatement. Applications for reinstatement are accepted between May 1, 2022, and June 30, 2022. If you have applied for reinstatement, you are not legally entitled to practice until your application has been approved. (See “Failure to Renew and Unlawful Practice” below.) Applications for reinstatement received after June 30, 2022 will not be accepted.

Reinstatement applicants must pay a reinstatement fee of $500 in addition to regular renewal fees.

Failure to Renew & Unlawful Practice

Practicing or using any of the reserved titles set out under the Speech and Hearing Health Professionals Regulation, BC Reg 3300/300, without renewing your registration will be unlawful practice or use of title.

The College actively enforces against unlawful practice and use of title as part of its legislated public protection mandate. The College may take regulatory action against anyone who engages in unlawful practice or use of title.

Registration Renewal Requirements

Before renewing, please ensure the following registration renewal requirements have been met:

  • You hold valid professional liability insurance
  • You have met and reported Continuing Competency Credit (CCC) and practice hour requirements
  • You have completed the Jurisprudence online learning course (if you registered with the College on or after April 1, 2021)
  • You have completed the Client Consent online learning course (if you registered with the College on or after June 29, 2021)
  • Any outstanding fees and/or fines have been paid.

Certified Practice Certificate Renewal Important Deadlines

Registrants must also remember to renew any Certified Practice (CP) certificates expiring on March 31, 2022 before that date, and should do so through the CSHBC Registrant Portal

There is no 30-day grace period with CP certificates. If a CP certificate is not renewed prior to the March 31, 2022, renewal deadline, that certificate will be cancelled as of midnight on that day and registrants must apply for CP certificate reinstatement. Applications for CP certificate reinstatement received more than 30 days after the certificate was cancelled will not be accepted. After more than 30 days, registrants must re-apply and repeat the entire certification program.

CP reinstatement applicants must pay a reinstatement fee of $50 per certificate.

If you have applied for reinstatement of a CP certificate after March 31, 2022, you are not legally entitled to perform the relevant restricted activity in BC until your application has been approved

If you do not renew your expiring CP certificate by March 31, 2022, but continue to perform the relevant restricted activity, you will be engaging in unlawful practice, a serious matter subject to disciplinary action.

Certified Practice Certificate Renewal Requirements

Before renewing a CP certificate, please ensure you have met the requirement of reporting and applying the required 4 Continuing Competency Credits (CCCs) toward that certificate during the certificate lifecycle.
