Cameron Cowper appointed Chief Regulatory Officer of the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia

Cameron Cowper, currently Registrar and CEO of the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC), has been appointed Chief Regulatory Officer of the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). The position begins June 28, 2024.

Reporting to CHCPBC Registrar and CEO Dianne Millette, the Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO) is an executive leadership position responsible for the overall leadership, culture development, and continued transformation of all CHCPBC’s regulatory programs under the Health Professions Act and future Health Professions and Occupations Act. Regulatory programs include licensure, quality practice, inquiry, and discipline.

Seven existing BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, will legally amalgamate on June 28, 2024, and form CHCPBC.

Mr. Cowper, who has overseen multi-profession regulation as CSHBC Registrar and CEO since 2017, will continue to serve the College until the amalgamation date. In this transitional period leading up to amalgamation, he will also serve as Regulatory Programs Transition Lead for the new college. This part-time role will focus on implementing plans to allow CHCPBC to execute key regulatory functions at the time of amalgamation.
