2019 Public Engagement Forum
The CSHBC 2019 Public Engagement Forum (PEF) took place September 20, 2019 at Delta Vancouver Hotel, 550 West Hastings Street.
About the Public Engagement Forum
The Public Engagement Forum format is an effort to reinvigorate the previous AGM format by replacing it with a more interactive and relevant session.
The reporting requirements of a regulatory body created under the Health Professions Act are unlike that of a society created under the Society Act. Unlike the latter, any motions from the floor of a regulatory body’s AGM are non-binding on its Board, and financial statements presented at an AGM are pre-approved.
At the PEF, registrants and members of the public are invited to join Board members and CSHBC staff for an engaging and interactive roundtable policy session, with the opportunity to provide feedback and input on a number of policy issues.
During the Forum, CSHBC provides attendees with a number of relevant policy topics to choose from and asks participants to engage with Board members and staff in roundtable discussions. Registrants and members of the public have an opportunity to engage with the College directly and provide feedback and input for future consideration. The Forum is structured into small group discussions and brainstorming sessions. Identification of priorities is shared with the larger group.
