Update on medical masking in private health care clinics

CSHBC understands that a BC Government directive that all health care workers, volunteers, contractors, and visitors wear medical masks in patient areas of health-care facilities does not, for now, extend to requiring medical masking in private health care clinics.

Registration required for final CSHBC Public Engagement Forum to be held October 26, 2023

CSHBC will hold its final Public Engagement Forum (PEF) on October 26, 2023, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Zoom. Registration for the PEF is required. The registration deadline is October 23, 2023.

Renew registration on time to avoid having your registration cancelled – 10 serious consequences if your license to practice is cancelled and you become a former registrant

A registrant who fails to renew registration by the deadline of March 31, 2024, will have their registration cancelled automatically. Once a person’s registration is cancelled, the person becomes a former registrant. There are significant consequences of having your registration cancelled and becoming a former registrant.

CSHBC will celebrate international Allied Health Professionals Day on October 14, 2023. The day recognizes the significant contributions of the allied health workforce, including RAUDs, RHIPs, and RSLPs and other allied health professionals.

Health Minister and Provincial Health Officer announce actions to protect communities during upcoming respiratory illness season

Minister of Health Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry have announced actions to protect communities during the upcoming respiratory illness season. The actions include a requirement that all health care workers, volunteers, contractors, and visitors wear medical masks in patient areas of health-care facilities. There is no indication at this time that the medical masking requirement applies to private sector clinics.

Nine BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, release report that meets commitment to be accountable about progress on addressing Indigenous cultural safety, humility, and anti-racism

Nine BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, have jointly released a comprehensive progress report outlining Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racism activities in the two years since signing a Statement of Apology and Commitment to Action.

Updates on amalgamation of health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC

CSHBC has been working closely with other BC health profession regulatory colleges, the Ministry of Health, and consultants on planning and preparation for amalgamations of the colleges to take place in mid-2024. As a result of this work, there are several amalgamation updates to share.

CSHBC will hold the College’s final Public Engagement Forum (PEF) on October 26, 2023. Please submit questions for CSHBC to answer at the PEF by October 5, 2023. The College will provide a pre-registration link in early October.

Registrants who change to Non-practising registration are still subject to Quality Assurance & Professional Practice (QAPP) Program requirements specified in the CSHBC Bylaws.
