On July 21, 2021, Ms. Karen Ursel, RSLP, entered into an Undertaking and Consent Agreement, pursuant to ss. 33(6)(c) and 36(1) of the Health Professions Act (HPA). The College’s Inquiry Committee investigated a complaint relating to Ms. Ursel’s conduct, regarding concerns that she failed to maintain confidentiality consistent with the expected standard of practice.
Ms. Ursel is a College registrant and speech language pathologist. In July 2020, the College received a public complaint involving disclosure of personal information to another healthcare professional without the client’s consent.
The Inquiry Committee resolved to dispose of matters pursuant to ss. 33(6)(c) and 36(1) of the HPA by requiring that Ms. Ursel undertake or consent to complete two practice consultations with a mentor approved by the College and complete a reflective essay to be submitted to the College’s Inquiry Committee by December 31, 2021. Ms. Ursel also agreed to a reprimand.
The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that this resolution is consistent with the College’s mandate to serve and protect the public.
