Nine BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, have jointly released a comprehensive progress report outlining Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racism activities in the two years since signing a Statement of Apology and Commitment to Action.

Updates on amalgamation of health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC

CSHBC has been working closely with other BC health profession regulatory colleges, the Ministry of Health, and consultants on planning and preparation for amalgamations of the colleges to take place in mid-2024. As a result of this work, there are several amalgamation updates to share.

CSHBC to hold final Public Engagement Forum on October 26, 2023

CSHBC will hold the College’s final Public Engagement Forum (PEF) on October 26, 2023. Please submit questions for CSHBC to answer at the PEF by October 5, 2023. The College will provide a pre-registration link in early October.

Reminder to registrants: QAPP Program requirements apply to Non-practising registrants

Registrants who change to Non-practising registration are still subject to Quality Assurance & Professional Practice (QAPP) Program requirements specified in the CSHBC Bylaws.

RSLPs are not authorized to teach, train, or supervise members of other regulated professions on how to manage feeding and swallowing disorders as part of their clinical practices

In relation to client care, Registered Speech-Language Pathologists (RSLPs) are not authorized by law to teach, train, or supervise registrants of other regulated health professions on how to practice their own professions, even where they deliver client care that includes managing feeding and swallowing disorders, such as dysphagia.

CSHBC has published the College’s 2022 Annual Report and Financial Statements. The report includes a message from the Board Chair and Registrar & CEO, a feature on the history of CSHBC, committee reports, statistics, and a summary of revenue and expenses.

Survey results: Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, & Anti-Racism Standard of Practice

CSHBC is honouring National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21 through initiatives including the Standard of Practice for Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, & Anti-Racism, and a survey to support registrants in implementing the standard. CSHBC presents a summary of the survey results.

BC Ministry of Health: legal amalgamations of health profession regulatory colleges to be completed by June 2024

The BC Ministry of Health has confirmed in a letter that legal amalgamations of 11 BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, are to be completed before the end of June 2024.
