Cameron Cowper, currently CSHBC Registrar and CEO, has been appointed Chief Regulatory Officer of the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). Seven BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, will amalgamate on June 28, 2024, and form CHCPBC.

The Spring 2024 session of the CSHBC Hearing Instrument Dispensing (HID) Practical Exam will be limited to a small number of Exam retake candidates from the Fall 2023 session. As usual, the Spring 2024 session will be administered at Douglas College, Coquitlam Campus, and will take place on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.

The BC Ministry of Health has confirmed the name of the new multi-profession health regulatory college that will be created when CSHBC and six other existing colleges legally amalgamate on June 28, 2024: College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.

As part of the process to prepare for amalgamation on June 28, 2024, of seven BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, Dianne Millette has been appointed CEO of the new amalgamated college.

The BC Ministry of Health has posted proposed amendments to the regulations of seven health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, to reflect the Ministry’s proposed name for the new multi-profession college that will be created when the colleges amalgamate: The College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. The Ministry is accepting feedback on the proposed name until January 12, 2024.

CSHBC will hold its final Public Engagement Forum (PEF) on October 26, 2023, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Zoom. Registration for the PEF is required. The registration deadline is October 23, 2023.

CSHBC will celebrate international Allied Health Professionals Day on October 14, 2023. The day recognizes the significant contributions of the allied health workforce, including RAUDs, RHIPs, and RSLPs and other allied health professionals.

Nine BC health profession regulatory colleges, including CSHBC, have jointly released a comprehensive progress report outlining Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racism activities in the two years since signing a Statement of Apology and Commitment to Action.

CSHBC has been working closely with other BC health profession regulatory colleges, the Ministry of Health, and consultants on planning and preparation for amalgamations of the colleges to take place in mid-2024. As a result of this work, there are several amalgamation updates to share.

CSHBC will hold the College’s final Public Engagement Forum (PEF) on October 26, 2023. Please submit questions for CSHBC to answer at the PEF by October 5, 2023. The College will provide a pre-registration link in early October.
