Updated recommendation on masking requirement

On March 10, 2022, Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that BC would end its indoor mask requirement.

CSHBC has received a number of questions from registrants asking whether this means that they and their clients can discontinue wearing masks in the clinic environment.

While CSHBC does publish some updates relating to COVID-19 on the College website, registrants should seek specific guidance related to their region and practice context. You can find the latest guidance on the BC Centre for Disease Control website. Registrants are expected to comply with guidance documents issued by the BCCDC that are relevant to their practice environment.

While the PHO has revised a previous order relating to mask use, please consider that regional restrictions may still be in place and may change. As well, healthcare settings, individual businesses, service providers, and organizations may still require masks and registrants should ensure that they comply with any of their employer’s infection control and workplace policies with respect to COVID-19 prevention.
