On June 28, 2022, Mr. Matthew Lam, RHIP, entered into an Undertaking and Consent Agreement, pursuant to ss. 33(6)(c) and 36(1) of the Health Professions Act (HPA). The College’s Inquiry Committee (the “Committee”) is investigating Mr. Lam regarding competency concerns.
Background
Mr. Lam is a registrant and a hearing instrument practitioner. In February 2022, the College received a complaint disclosing grounds of concern relating to Mr. Lam’s otoscope skills, anatomy knowledge, and professional judgment.
Resolution
The Committee resolved to dispose of matters pursuant to ss. 33(6)(c) and 46(1) of the HPA by the Committee requesting, and the Respondent voluntarily providing, consents or undertakings for certain practice conditions. The conditions include an onsite practice assessment, and Mr. Lam completing two regulatory practice consultation sessions, with reports to the Committee concerning outstanding issues, if any.
The Committee believes this resolution is sufficient to satisfy the College’s mandate to serve and protect the public.
